FEA and SolidWorks
Finite Element Analysis and MatLab are more complex tools for engineers. Rather than just learning the software, in 2018, I was solving problems with computer applications.

I have chosen to further this knowledge in my senior year and am currently taking classes in furthering my application. Another Engineering software I have experience with is MatLab, which can be found in the link below.
Finite Element Analysis Project
Task:
Conduct analysis in redesigning an apparatus of the Penn State Eco-car. Include cost, weight, etc. in material selection.

SolidWorks
The first step was to decide which part to redesign and draw out. I was given a few options but decided on the rod in the bottom left that holds the brake assembly to the wheel. I then went further with testing simulations.

Machine Design
The project gave me a glimpse into how engineers choose materials and design for their products. I had to conduct the software analysis, but also factor in outside elements to choose the best option.
My Process of FEA Is Shown Below:

SolidWorks Experience
I have had a few classes with SolidWorks throughout the last three years. Some of projects involved multiple parts and some involved 3D printing sections for projects.

Many Projects
For over 3 years, I have been dabbling in modeling software. Some designing has been for assignments while others have been 3D printed for projects.

3D Modeling
Through Penn State I have access to bringing my designs to life. Above is a drawer my group designed and printed for our puzzle box.

Optimization
When designing on SolidWorks, manufacturing has to be kept in mind. For the above project my group had to balance resources like print time, print quality, performance and durability.

Limitations
3D printing is super cool. It does have its limitations though. Through my experience, I have persevered through the forgotten limitations of the technology.
